Harman Kardon Bds 5 subwoofer

I have a Herman kardon BDS 5 ,I am stuck on how to make the Subwoofer work,I have connected it to the TV with an optical cable but still no Bass.
I have been connecting the LFE using an RCA cable to the Subwoofer port on bds.
The white light on top has been flashing all along.
Looking for solutions to get the bass working as the rest of the speakers are working ok.

U may just wanna hookup the sub, all by itself, say to your smartphone to see if u get anything out of it just to test.

I tried it but couldnt get even the slightest sound from the Subwoofer. Am also not sure if the light on top of the sub is supposed to blink(white)

Looks like a bad sub then. The manual should tell u what the blinking light means.

Have you checked the speaker set up menu in the HK? The subwoofer output may be off. You may need to set the front speakers to small as well.

What do you mean by setting the front small speakers to small as well?typo maybe?
The HK manuals I have downloaded are vague in terms of connections or its just not well spelt out in a layman's language since am not a Techie.
