I had the same problem. I started off with 3 white dots and it multiplied to over 30. After researching, I found that Mitsubishi will cover the replacement chip cost for my 2009 out of warranty 65in TV. I had to pay $200 for labor, which was ok with me, because after searching for the chip on various internet retailers and looking at the YouTube video on how to replace it, I spent approximately $30 extra than doing it myself (plus the time it was going to take me to do it was worth it to me). Easy process...I called Mitsubishi ( 800.332.2119), got a CS Rep on the line, answered some questions, they set me up with a local repair company, and less than a week later my TV doesn't have spots It took the repairman about 30mins to do the job. He told me that the original chips are defective. Mitsubishi acknowledged the problem and corrected the chips, so after the replacement there should be no further issues with the white spots. I'm satisfied.
