Hi, this is basically a simple question needing a simple answer. To anyone with experience using older Lenovo, HP, Compaq & Dell laptops:

Are all HP, Compaq & Dell laptop-screens very dimmable, similar to Lenovo thinkpads?

More specifically:
On my vintage Lenovo Thinkpads, the displays are very easily highly dimmable via the FN button, so they're therapeutic for my eyes which require the dimmest screen possible.

The reason i'm asking, is that approx. 20 yrs. ago, i had a touted "low-flicker" Samsung LCD stand-monitor, which literally fried my eyes (i developed permanent meibomian gland atrophy and dry-eyes from it, aside from severe headaches & worse). Long story re: the Samsung, and yes, i found out - too late - that they were dimmable via some nested Windows process. Samsung's rep. certainly never enlightened me on that.

As dimmable as thinkpads are?
and hassle-free like thinkpads?
I really am anxious to know - since i'm in the market.

OK, then, thanks - i'll pick yours as the solution,
...though i still would love more feedback from anyone else who used loads of these brands.
