hcl notebook display problem

I recently installed windows 8.1.
Since my notebook is really old it came with driver disk for xp and vista only. So I am left with a stretched out display where I can only see 75% of the screen and rest is to the left.
My laptops screen had broken so I had to connect a Samsung syncmaster sa100 monitor. I tried searching for display drivers and installed via chrome 9 hc igp for windows 8 64 bit but that left me with a black screen and a cursor . So I uninstalled it from safe mode .
Please help me with this problem.
I have HCL p28 pdc notebook
Display driver: VIA chrome9 hc igp (that is what the disk said for vista)
Rest is working good , only the display is stretched out . Please help.

Try installing the drivers for the monitor you are using. Should be this one:

@Titillating: This did not help . I installed the monitor drivers . But the problem still exists.
Also tried using magic tune but no solution.
