HD STB to RPTV 3030 to HDTV?

Just got a new Panny PT-50LC14 HDTV and cable guy (Comcast) is coming today
to install HD STB. Install will be with Component cable. Since my RPTV 3030
does not have Component inputs or outputs will I be able to keep the 3030 in
my setup and still retain HD capabilities while watching HD programs? I
understand that recording in HD will not be possible.
I'd hate to give up RTV to watch HD and vice versa. Any workarounds other
than upgrading to a new RPTV?

Your HDTV should have composite video / S-video inputs also. You could
connect the Replay to those and switch between them.

The cable box should have composite / S-video outputs, although many
will not allow you to use then at the same time as the component
outputs. You wouldn't want to do this anyway, since there would be a
conflict between when you want to watch HD and when the Replay tries
to record SD (the box will get only one channel at a time). Consider
getting 2 cable boxes if you want the Replay to have access to digital
channels.
