HDMI from cable box to Vizio TV

Bought a Vizio Smart TV with an HDMI connection. Comcast cable box does not have HDMI connection so I bought a viewtv At-163 with HDMI connection thinking I could run the cable from the cable box to the converter and the HDMI from the viewtv to the TV. I get no response from viewtv. Did I buy the wrong converter, or is the Viewtv simply broken when I got .

If the Comcast box doesn't have an HDMI output, then it probably isn't a high def box. You probably need to exchange the Comcast box.
