hdmi port help

I use my Alienware laptop as a screen for my PS4 using the HDMI port. Lately it no longer shows picture just black with sound still working. Could a driver update fix this or could it be a problem with the input itself? Cable is working fine.

Your laptop uses which GPU? If it is nvidia, then a update would fine; while if is amd, I'd recommend you install some compatible software for GPU.

It says its a Intel (R) HD Graphics 4600. I've updated it but still only sound works whenever using the HDMI.

If you have another cord try substituting it with that. If it doesn't work still, try using an hdmi to vga cable (if your computer has a vga port of course). You can get one at your local electronic store or online. If it still doesn't work, then either your ps4 is damaged somehow or your computer doesn't have the right drivers. Try looking up solutions.

Thanks for trying to help. The PS4 is fine, tried different cables. Checked everything seems to be up to date. Maybe its a problem with the port or something I'm gonna have to keep looking.

It could also mean that your GPU in your laptop is damaged. But since it's an alienware laptop, you might be able to fix (not for sure though i'm not the most experienced with laptops).
