So I'm looking for a headphone/sound card combination that really go together, right around $300 (although if it will be noticeably better, I can go higher).

I strictly care about comfort (upwards of 4 or more hours of continuous wear) and amazing sound quality. I love clarity in my music, but still like a heavy bass line. Here's an example of two genres I'll be listening to - The Serpent's Tongue by Sylosis; Bad Intentions by Zomboy.

I'm not specifically looking for surround/virtual sound, so stereo is fine if it'll sound better. The headphones will likely never even be unplugged, just sit on my desk or on my head, strictly for my PC sound. I'm not worried about durability as I'm really good with my electronics and I've never even broken a phone before.

I'd prefer if everything comes from Newegg, but it doesn't need to be a limiter. So far, I've only really found the V-Moda Crossfade LP2 and at the time of the post it's not in stock. Also, noise canceling and sound leaking doesn't matter much to me.

Here's my mobo so you don't need to ask if I have certain ports/slots.

Side note: I have tons of extra power on my PSU so even if the headphones/sound card soaks up 100+watts, it won't matter (don't ask).

here is my thought on this

right now on massdrop the Aune T1 is $129.99

so that

and then these beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 $163.99 @ amazon

I believe that would be a really solid $300~ (bit under) headphone setup.

other headphone options AKG Q701, Senn 598 (or if you say budget smudget) HD600/650

The Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250, AKG Q701, and Sennheiser 598 are all within about $30 of each other, so now I'm trying to figure which one to get. They all look very comfortable and have great reviews, and are even all on sale. Any input?

these are all such nice headphones and they all have pretty compelling arguments for them if you like a lot of bass then probably the Beyerdynamic DT770's would be my vote (I own the DT770's (pro 80 version) lots and lots of bass... not stupid nothing but bass but plently of bass.

I have listened to to the q701's and Senn 598s also.. and they are both reeeeeaaally nice.. honestly I'm thinking about add one or both of those to my headphone collection

(i have now the DT770s , ATH-M50, Pioneer SE-A1000, Takstar HD5500, and JVC HA-RX700) of these the DT770s are my favorites..

I went with the DT770's (250 Ohms). I happened upon a Xonar Essence STX, listening to a new album right now. It's fantastic :)
