Headphones with no mic

Headphones have one plug for my new computer and all i can hear is audio. I bought 2 different split (adapter) cables now and none of them worked. My mic isn't coming up in realtek audio manager and I tried all ports for the mic jack.the blue the pink in the back of the computer and the 2 ports on the top of the desktop. None worked. Any suggestions?

What headset do you have? What splitter did you buy? What kind of computer do you have?

Have you tested the headset on another device and know it works?
