Headset keeps cutting out my mic

My headset keeps cutting out occasionally when I tab into a game. Not sure what causes it, should I get a new headset or is it a PC problem?

alt+tabbing is known to cause interrupts as settings/etc are changed on the fly. Depending on how the mic is connected to the PC, one of these interrupts could make the mic lose connection or simply froze the entire PC for part of a second. Hard to know for sure without more info.

Even if i don't alt-tab into a game and use the taskbar it still messes up.
