Headset microphone goes through bouts of interference

I have a Razer Blackshark headset that I use while gaming with my friends. Recently they have started complaining about a very loud static kind of sound that comes for a short period and then goes completely. I asked them to tell me when it happened again and when it did happen again I didn't notice anything that changed. I was just sitting still. I didn't tug on a cable or anything. It appears to be random, nothing I do seems to cause it and nothing I do (unplugging and replugging, adjusting the wire and position of microphone) seems to fix it (it seems to go away of its own accord). I have managed to record the sound so I know my friends aren't having me on. I have used the only two microphone sockets on my computer and this happens whichever I use. The occurrences aren't frequent with hours passing before another occurrence. Does anyone know what this could be and how I can fix it?
