Question Hello Im wondering if a 144hz monitor can actually show close to that with my laptop

My laptop is a Nitro AN517-51 and the specs are as follows
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.85 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650

the max fps my laptop has is 60

So I was told that my laptop could handle running 144 hz on a external monitor but for some reason it just caps at 60.

like rgd1101 wrote, fps is not related to the refresh rate of the monitor

however, if you just wanna set your monitor correctly, you will have to set 144Hz inside windows.
to check if the monitor is set correctly to 144Hz, open the onscreen display of the monitor
