Help! Buy laptop for university and total war games

Looking to buy a laptop for my upcoming masters course. Want a laptop that will allow me to complete all uni work easily and allow me to indulge my total war game obsession. Budget for the laptop is between £300-£400, as will need to buy office etc. recommendations please, as I am adrift in a sea of jargon and specs I don't fully understand.

hello there i do not know what your price translates into my currency which is us dollars but if your trying to play games on your laptop or as i read total war games you will need a laptop with at least a dedicated graphics card. now i can recommend a few at all price ranges

Those are US model laptops, not compatible across the pond without voltage adapters. Plus, the keyboards aren't going to natively support the differences in symbol and language specific keystrokes. You want to find units in the same country as the user. Also, £400, as I just expressed in what I'm almost sure is another post asking the same question about a uni and gaming laptop, is not, as you've expressed, going to be likely for that budget since a discreet card is pretty much mandatory.

lol thanks dark and i understand but see i dont know what currency he is using nor where he is from so i was just doing my best to make suggestions. by the way i like your signature picture you have i also have the 990FX r2.0

It's a good board. I've always been fond of the Sabertooth boards. I've never personally had an issue with using any of them in a build.


The £ sign is British Sterling pounds, so it's UK or United Kingdom countries including England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the territories of The Isle of Man and The Channel islands. They all, so far as I know, use British Sterling Pounds as currency and are considered UK countries for the purpose of power grid compliance. There may be some small differences in some areas, but that would be to the OP's discretion and should be noted if there are considerations.
