Hello :)

so as the title says i am looking for help to buy myself a laptop :)
here is the info

1. What is your budget? 900-1000Euros

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? at least 15" altho prefer a 17" but am ok with anything above 15"

3. What screen resolution do you want? i would say HD dont want it 3D and dont want the resolution to be small so above 1440-900

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? a little of both altho i wont move with it a lot maybe i will go once a week with it to the university so if its a little bit big its no problem but i dont want it too bulky

5. How much battery life do you need? in the range of 4-5 hours would be great i guess

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? yes some gaming would be nice, i mostly play Call Of Duty 4 in high quality but i would say medium setting with 125 to 250 fps constant is ok

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) some photo editing, Engineering programs as Solidworks and CADs (but i dont think i need a workstation for that its just some random tasks i will do in the univ once a week), and ofc internet and Movies (so a good screen and resolution is needed for this)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? about 160 to 200 GB is enough i got externals but i would like it to be fast if it wont affect the budget a lot and if its worth its cash

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. no but i prefer the website to be based in Europe in case i need to resend it to them or something like that

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? about 4 to 5 years is enough

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? Blu-ray writer would be good if it wont affect the budget a lot(if it will have a strong effect on the budget i am ok with a DVD writer)

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Atm i am into Lenovo, MSI and Alienware (altho i know alienware is pretty expansive and sometimes overpriced), dont want HP cause of its cooling and battery problems i have seen with lots of my friends, ehm i would like the laptop to look simple though so no fashony thingies all arouund and glittery surfaces and so on.(basically a little like the
old school laptops, mostly found those on Lenovo, MSI and Sager although sager would be a problem cause it ships from the US)
but i am open to any brands as long as they have a good laptop to offer :)

13. What country do you live in? The Netherlands

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

What i am basically looking for is a good performance laptop that is not expensive, which will probably mean not buying from overpriced makes as Alienware and some of the other makes.
if i will get a significant increase in performance with a little increase in budget i might be able to increase my budget with about 100 euros or so.
i am mostly trying to buy the laptop in July-August and beginning of September before my university starts :).

well thats all the info i could think of atm, so if there is any other info needed tell me and i will add it.
thanks a lot in advanced for your effort and time (and sorry for the long read 😀)

i was linked to this laptop by a friend Medion Erazer X6813, and according to the specifications its almost like the MSI GT780 and the AW MX17 R3 (the standard ones) and its about 400 euros cheaper.
now is it worth to go 100 over budget for this one or not? he has recommended it and told me that he has a friend who has it and didnt have a single problem with it and has actually played some games on highest resolution and settings getting good fps rate.
or is this one not good?

Thanks :).
so its worth it but are there any better recommendations? i read a review that said its better to payy 100 extra and go for the MSI GX660, and i heard that MSI is very good when it comes to gaming laptops.
what are ur thoughts?
thanks for the info :)

apparently i cant find the GX660 in a dutch shop or online shop -,- which is a little bit weird.
do u know of any other models that can be better than the erazer?

hmm, apparently the GX660 is unavailable in the Netherlands dunno if there is website close to the Netherlands that has it or not, and Sager is in the US so that will be expensive and unsafe to ship and i have had bad experiences with cross continental shipping.
