hi all i have an crappy xenta xforce 5.1 and it has a 5.1ch output called AC-3 it has six RCA connectors color coded red and white cen/sub r and f any way i have a star tech sound card and when i connect the jack to rca cables 3 of them (by the way my cables are red and black but i assume the black one will go in white bits as red to red) but when i configure them in control panel sound it comes as stereo 5.1 7.1 etc i click on 5.1 but when i click lets say sub the tone comes through the fr speakers it i click sr it comes through fr speakers whats up help

Solution
it sounds like the 6 rca cables are:

front left (white rca, FL)
front right (red rca, FR)
center (white rca, CEN)
sub (red rca, SUB)
rear left (white rca, RL)
rear right (red rca, RR)

to use this with a pc soundcard you will need to buy 3.5mm stereo to rca (2x) Y cables. three of them.

basically you would need to combine them like this:

FL+FR rca to one 3.5mm (plugs to green jack on pc soundcard)
CEN+SUB (orange jack)
RL+RR (black jack)

you do not have the system hooked up correctly which is why sounds play out of incorrect speakers.
