Help needed choosing a gaming laptop for £1000-£1500

I'm going to be moving to uni soon, so I'm planning to sell my desktop and put it towards a high-spec laptop (partly due to occasional gaming and partly due to studying computer science, so a future-proof option seems like a good idea). I'm having trouble choosing one however as there are just so many available. My budget is around £1000-£1500.

As to specs, I'm looking at:

• 
  Screen: 15.6"
  RAM: at least 8GB
  GPU: GTX 1060 or higher
  CPU: i5 or i7
  Don't care about the battery, bulkiness or design (however a more low-key one is appreciated)

I don't mind if the laptop is used (so you can recommend me popular models that can be easily found used on eBay) as long as I'm getting my value for money. Also, if the laptop is sold in Tesco that would be great as I can get a 10% discount on it as I work there.

Honestly you might be well off just having a Gaming/Home Desktop to keep wherever you live (dorm, apt, other) and a inexpensive laptop to use for classwork. (unless your studies need good specs)

Reasons:
1. Laptops can be damaged or lost easily. Losing a really expensive laptop as opposed to a ~200-300 dollar one is devastating.
2. A really expensive laptop is much more likely to be stolen
3. You don't get nearly as good gaming performance from a laptop

Would you not want the 15.6 for the smaller size given you're also using it in class?
Any reason you don't want a PC in your room and a workstation laptop for actual uni work?
Works much better and is far better value.
Tesco works out more expensive than Amazon.

The thing is, I'd then be wanting to upgrade my home PC anyway (I've held off upgrades for a few years because of this) and taking the PC to uni and back would be an absolute pain as LANs have taught me. I'm not worried about it getting stolen and would also want it to be highish spec as I'm going to be doing computer science - a laptop that would just cut it for the basics would be like £500 so I might as well get a proper one to replace my PC.

Would you not want the 15.6 for the smaller size given you're also using it in class?

Hell I use a 13.6" laptop for Uni and I think it's plenty, but any bigger than 15.6 and you're hitting bulking brick size.
