Hi, I'm looking to buy a laptop specifically for gaming (I need the portability or otherwise I would build a desktop) I would like something that isn't $3000 but can still run games fairly well any answer is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Dougle, there are a few options that you can go for and I'm guessing you want no more than 15" and a slim form factor? You can probally get the best bang for buck from Clevo resellers. However the GS series by MSI which I have myself are good for a desktop "replacement" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152686&cm_re=GS60-_-34-152-686-_-Product for example is a high end very slim and portable gaming laptop, there are also other configurations at a cheaper price-point with lower GPU's if you shop around. One of the best budget gaming laptops in terms of a none ridiculous price/performance ratio is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233059&cm_re=Gigabyte_Laptop-_-34-233-059-_-Product you can configure this to your hearts content.

My current favourite and which I will be going for soon is a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152710 which comes with a dock to put a dedicated GPU in, this GS30 ghost is great as long as you've got a desk at home to put the dock on not too good if you game on the go, but for your needs it might not be too good as you'll need a monitor, mouse and keyboard with it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834725006&cm_re=x3_arous-_-34-725-006-_-Product Aorus X3 is another very good yet maybe a tad expensive choice you have, these are super portable and don't compromise on power. They also don't suffer at the hands of ridiculous temperatures compared to the GS Series however I've heart in 13-14 inch laptops fans on some models can get very loud, hence research using reviews and feedback of products is a good bet before you buy.

Hope this helps, if you can give me some more detailed specs and needs or have any questions I would be glad to help.

Oreilly, you're probably right granted he goes home each day and not traveling. However he did mention about portability otherwise he would of built a desktop which probably means he travels, hence carrying a mouse, keyboard and monitor isn't exactly mobile. But if he goes home each day I would splash out for a GS30.

Hi, the MSI gs doesnt look to bad what is it that makes it so good and why would it matter whether I came home or not, is this something with the dock because I didn't think it was required to use the laptop?
Thanks

Oh well the GS30 uses intel intergrated graphics and then you put a seperate GPU in the dock. What makes it so good is that you can get and upgrade your graphics card that you put in the dock :)

The GS30 is new but the built in GPU is nothing special so to game high level on the go you will have to add another 250-300$ for a discrete card to the $1900 price tag and take the dock with you. Any Laptop with I7 and GTX970M will play anything on the go.

That makes sense about the integrated graphics, I thought the dock was just to upgrade if you wanted. Rolli do you have any recommendations for a laptop with specs like you said.

Ok I might look at that. Thanks to everyone who answered in this forum!
