Guys is there such a thing as a cable that will plug into my TV which has a SPDIF connection and then the other end plug into my home theater which has a optical connection? If not how do I connect the two together? I just want to hear the sound from the cable TV channel (plugged into HDMI-1) on the home theater system =(

TOSLINK connection is optical, and is SPDIF. "S/PDIF is a data link layer protocol and a set of physical layer specifications for carrying digital audio signals between devices and components over either optical or electrical cable".

Most TVs, at least the ones I have seen, have the TOSLINK connection which is optical. SPDIF is not really a connection type. Take a look here at the History section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOSLINK Most people use SPDIF...

No it's not optical, it's digital coaxial as far as my research has shown. So still unsure how to connect the two, if it's possible at all!

Take a look here at the History section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOSLINK Most people use SPDIF and TOSLINK as interchangeable even though they are not really the same. Like saying "reboot" when people mean "re-image" or "re-install".
