help with older hardware

Hooked up Chromecast to an old TV with no HDMI ports using a DVI adapter. I have picture but no sound. Hooked up audio (red and white) cables and TV external speaker but just getting static. Any suggestions?

After much trial and error I bought a Roku 1 which solved all my issues. Works with older and new TVs. Save the Chromecast for an HDMI TV and Roku much, much cheaper than a new TV. Love the Roku!
