I want a gaming laptop that can play games on high or medium settings with no framerate drops . for me looks dont matter so any laptop with good specs would work .

ALso does y50 lack the cd drive cause i will go for the lenovo ideapad y510p if it does lack the cd drive

no z50 can't compete with y510p. z50 has class 2 GPU 840m and y510 will has class 1 GPU gt 755m.
y50 does look like mac book air so maybe it won't have cd drive. Although some websites claim y50 has an optical drive while y40 won't have any.

y510p has gt 755m SLI version which is class 1.

755m sli will work for a few years definitely, although seeing the transition through gaming tech, it won't play games at high-extreme settings after 3-4 years. The new resolution of 4k is being adapted in the 800m series of nvidia graphic card.

Yes it will work smoothly for at least 3-4 years. I can play assassins creed - 3 at mid- low settings, nfs most wanted 2, cod mw 3, dishonored on intel hd 4000.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Wired Game Controller Model 52A-00004 is completely compatible with windows 8.1 so yes that means you can.
Just google for various tips and tricks and other information for the controller.
