Do a hard reset first, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Boot the laptop back up and see if it will load your normal desktop. If it still doesn't and you saw the Lenovo logo, try to connect and external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it because if you do it may be thinking that there's another monitor connected to it. Press the Windows key + P at the same time and select "Display Only" then press Enter see if you'll get the display back into the built in display if not there might be an issue with the display.

Next is to try to load it into Safe Mode, while the laptop is booting up keep on tapping F8 until you see Advance Boot Option. Select Safe Mode and press Enter. Once your desktop is loaded disable all your startup items from Task Manager and reboot the laptop again. If all these failed to fix the issue you may need to do a Factory Reset with your laptop using a System Recovery disc.

Its a known hardware issue in G500 model..take it to the nearest service center as the mother board has to be replaced..had the same problem with my G500
