Good evening,

I recently had a few minutes to check out on the new Sony Clie's at the
airport. I didn't buy it, but noticed that it had a hierarcic task system,
whereby it is possible to make sub-tasks to tasks. I use the tasks in my
Ipaq a lot and such a feature would help me a lot.

I do use the categories etc etc, but being able to build it up hierarcically
would be the best. Is there anyone outthere who knows about a similar
program for the Pocket PC OS, that I can buy ? I've tried all the normal
software sites, but cannot find one.

Check out Pocket Informant. This allows heirarchical task creation.

You could try Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion
if you want to try something a bit different, but free try ADB Idea

Here is the text from the PI manual- note the limitations noted at the end
wrt hierarchical tasks.

Hierarchical Tasks

Hierarchical tasks allow you to create parent child relationships within
your task list. Pocket Informant makes it easy to create your hierarchy as
well as maintain it.

Note that hierarchical tasks do not work in conjunction with the various
Group By modes

You have two ways to create a list.

Drag and Drop

The easiest way is to drag a task on top of another task to create a
relationship. Because the display supports selecting, multiple selection
(up/down stylus movement), tap/hold, and drag - dragging requires that you
drag quickly diagonally. Then just drop the child task on top of its new
parent task.

Create as Child

There are two ways to create a new task immediately as a child of another
task. The first is to tap and hold on the prospective parent, and choose
"New Child" or "Tree>New Child".

The second way is to select a task either by tapping or using the joy pad.
Then make sure you have the New Entry bar on (selected using the button on
the toolbar), and enter the subject of the new task. Press the blue arrow,
and a new task will be created as a child of your selection.

Forced Tasks

In some case, you may need a parent task to display even if it normally
would not. For example, if you have a parent that is not overdue, but a
child is overdue and you have selected the "Overdue" filter - Pocket
Informant will "force" this parent task to display. Its color by default is
grey to denote that it is a "forced" task.

Limitations and Future

Hierarchical Tasks currently employ no rules engine. Checking off a parent
task while all children are not checked off is allowed. HT also is not smart
about removing a forced task when there is no reason for it to be displayed
anymore. These are improvements we have planned for a future release.

ALthough I have one flaw: It does not come with software for the desktop. It
would be even greater, if it could sync with a desktop software...
