Hook up problem

Hello,
I have a Harmon Kardon CDR 20 CD Recorder and a Yamaha RX-V665 AV receiver. The connection instructions are vague. Can you help me?

Use the optical out from the receiver to the inputs to CDR or use rca cables, audio out to audio in.
