I need some help for my father.
I'm not with him at the moment, so any advice given I won't be able to try right away, I have to relay the information to him.

A few weeks ago he bought a new Samsung 4k television.
He refuses to spend the money to upgrade to a Blu-ray player, and wants to continue using his old DVD player.

So, the only option is hooking it up with an RCA connection.
There's no picture of sound though when trying to play a DVD.

I know that some kind of signal is being sent, because when the cables are plugged in I'm getting the option to switch to that input with the remote, whereas when it's unplugged there's no option to.
I've tried my father's DVD player, plus and older one that I had, and neither work.
I've got an older HDTV and both players worked without an issue when hooking them up to mine.
Any ideas?

Yeah, I know.

He won't upgrade though until he's positive that his current player won't be able to work on the TV.
