how can I fix my laptop if it turns on and then off on it's own

Every time it comes on, shortly after it cuts off on it's own with a battery and a charger in. Can someone help me please?

I'm thinking it may be overheating (just one possibility). When was the last time it was disassembled and had all the dust cleaned off the heatsink fins? It may also need the cpu repasted. I think you should download HWMonitor and see what your temps are.

I don't know if this helps but it's a HP computer type.

Many HP laptops made in the last 10 years are very prone to overheating. Their cooling systems seem to be poorly designed. Add a couple years of dust build up, and they are almost guaranteed to overheat.
