Solution
You need to connect the audio out (which is one the bottom rear of the TV to the analog audio input of the Sony HTiB. You will need a stereo audio cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug at one end and a pair of RCA plugs on the other. This is what it looks like:

It will work best if you turn off the speakers in the TV audio menu. Select the analog audio input on the HTiB and a surround sound mode you like (such as Dolby Prologic II).
