I know I need a pre amp but my speakers have the normal red and black speaker wire as well as an analog plug so I'm unsure of where to plug in the analog jack because no preamps that I can find have a port for it

Solution
I assume you are talking about low-impedance speakers such as would be used with a stereo system. You don't need a preamp but will need an amplifier. Connect the amp inputs to the laptop. You will need a standard plug that fits the jack on your laptop and connects to the amp. Assuming the amp used RCA connections, you need this: https://www.amazon.com/SHD-Splitter-Conductor-Shielding-Shell-Black/dp/B017XNCK6I/

If you use an integrated amp, plug into an input call aux or line or CD.
