Solved! How can I record a show from my genie mini direct tv box to my vcr?

I want to record a show from my genie mini direct tv box to my vcr and it doesn’t seem to work can anyone help me with what I’m doing wrong?

My guess is that the AV out and HDMI out don't function at the same time. You can check that by removing the HDMI cable from the back of the box and then trying to record.
It may also need to be turned on in the genie set up menu.
