how can i use my laptop as a TV because i need to watch TV and i don't have one

I have connected a HDMI to my laptop coming from a Dish but i don't know how to get channels in my laptop

The HDMI port on your laptop is output only. In order to watch TV on your laptop, you will need a dish compatible TV Tuner card to connect to either a USB port or PCMCIA/PCExpress card slot (which ever your laptop has).
