how do I connect samsung surround system to tv

I have a Samsung Blu-ray/ DVD home entertainment system, that came with 6 speakers (including the OEM speaker cables). However, I do not have the dvd player. Is there a way for me to connect the speakers to my Samsung Smart TV.

Should be an "optical" cable connection for each.

Need the dvd player as that would have the speaker connections and amp to drive them. The TV's amp itself is only powerful enough to work with it's own speakers. If speakers just use speaker wire and not some kind of weird plug then a cheap AVR with Optical or S/PDIF as said long as your TV has these output connections to match the AVR.
