Optical output is pretty common these days. If your TV doesn't have it, it means it's a low-end TV where they try to save a few$ and give you a limited number of ports. You can always....

Hookup via analog, headphone out, RCA etc, assuming soundbar ALSO have analog inputs. You will get stereo only.

If you are playing through a cable box, maybe optical cable box --> directly to soundbar, but this is very inflexible.


In the cosmic scheme of things, soundbars are very limited, make folks like you come in here and ask for miracles (we don't have any). We want you to buy an honest-to-God multi HDMI AV receiver to provide maximum flexibility.
