how do i fix white screen on my laptop

I also have that kind of problem on a brand new MSI GT70 computer with a Nvidia GTX970m video card.
I have no final solution because I do not even know if the problem is on the main board or dur to the video card; my feeling is that the video card heat is the cause : on my laptop, the fan booster can be activated by a button; it appeared the first time when I forget to push the button : the laptop overheat, the screen becomes white.
I just power off the computer completely and after a while (a long while of a quarter or so), the pc comes back normally.
I will contact the MSI support to at least mention the problem, but if anybody knows some trick, I can try it.
