I think, since most cable companies have encrypted even their basic channels, a set top box is required.

Connect the cable wire to the TV antenna input, set the TV to cable and scan for channels. If you don't get any you will need some kind of box.

A lot of able companies charge for extra rooms and I would rather pay for one room then then pay more for cable..I already have box so I should be able to hook tv up to cable..And my other tv that I had is different name same kind with no issues..
