Have a look underneath the laptop base.

Turn it over, it should be on the bottom cover, often times with a light etching so look carefully, unless Chinese knock-off in which case oops.

If this is a laptop (you've posted this in Laptop section) - when you power it up, it usually shows brand name.

True, but poster wants to know the actual model -- you won't usually see that on the boot splash screen
