How do I re-addres keyboard input?

I want to send "[spacebar]" whenever i press e.g "[n]"

Is there a software that might help me?
 
It's called "key remapping", but isn't that going to make it rather awkward to type anything if you press a letter and all you get is a space? (lol)

thx for the reply. yes, it would most certainly make word-processing rather frustrating. My specific goal is this: I have a program designed to control lights and disco effects - i want to control it by remote through a consumer-end powerpoint prensentation remote. trouble is that the remote sends [n] (as in Next slide), but my program needs [g]
