how do i reconfigure cooling fan speeds

i have a NV53 laptop that seems to run hot and freezes when watching youtube videos. the fan comes on and runs fairly slow but doesnt stay on long enough to cool off cpu. can it be reconfigured . speedfan didnt work. any help apreciated stv357

The main laptop fan should generally be intelligent enough to kick in when the heat is dangerously high, to prevent damage and thermal throttling. As the NV53 is relatively old, have you tried cleaning the vents and checking the fan to see if it's still working as fast as it could?
