Solved! How do I update the firmware when the wifi isn't working

The solution to the wifi not working on the insignia flex tablet is to update the firmware. To check for updates the tablet wants to connect to the wifi! (Horse-cart?) How do I do system updates without wifi?

You can't really do an update without either WiFi or a Data plan. I suggest you try resolving the WiFi problem, which will then allow you to do updates.

So why isn't the WiFi working? What is it doing?
