How do you use Apple earbuds as a mic and headphones?

Solution
To be more technical

Audio connections are identified in terms of TR, TRS, TRRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) and are generally standardized so different audio devices can be used "anywhere".

Apple headphones use proprietary connections - not compatible with the PC world side of things.

So, basically, you can not. Apple earbuds were designed for phone usage, and because of that, they are usually not compatible with a PC. You can use it to listen to stuff, but the computer does not recognize the mic in the headphones, and therefore you can not use it as a mic, but you can use it as a reg earbuds.
