How should I connect this subwoofer to my receiver?

Hi

I have a subwoofer which I made myself. it is a passive sub and only has black/red inout on the back of the sub, how would I connect this to my receiver?

Your receiver got a sub out connection? If so, use that - if its powered. If not powered, you'll have to get a separate sub amp.

You can use a passive crossover like on of these

but you may need a way adjust the relative level of the sub vs the satellite speakers. Which ever is too loud will need to be turned down.
