I have bought a STR-DN1030 to use with my stereo and laptop (I don't have a tv) but can't play music via the network even though I can see it in the network devices list... It doesn't even add it as a speaker output when I plug the HDMI cable in... and I can't find any drivers anywhere!!!!

Hi,

Do try checking the Playback Devices if it would be listed or not in it.
- Right click on your speaker icon and select Playback Devices.
- Once opened and if you see your receiver, right click on it and select Set Default.
- Click Apply and OK then test it again.

I checked it's manual but it doesn't say that it would play using a computer or a laptop. :( But please do refer to this support documents from Sony about your receiver. It says that it would work via Bluetooth so if your laptop has Bluetooth try pairing it with it that may work.

Here's a complete manual for your receiver.

Here's also a guide on how to connect Bluetooth device or speaker to a laptop.
