Hello Everyone, I hope you are ok. I have a little question to ask, I have been looking online and I never managed to find the answer.

I have had a ASUS S14 for more than 4 years and its slowly dying. I mean, everything I do seem to over heat it and the ventilation goes crazy.

I am seriously thinking of buying a new one but I would like to avoid the laptop to overheat. I thus need your help on that one. I do not game or edit photo; like many people I have 10000 tabs open on my browser, I am using office and streaming .(thats 90% of my use)
(
My question being now:

- does the amount of ram influence it? (does the computer runs cooler with more ram)
- does the cpu influence the heat/ventilation. What is the current best cpu for my demand?,
-does a 14inch laptop tend to heat up more than a 15.6?
-is there a brand or a model that is dealig better with it?

I am looking for a laptop under 1000 nothing too fancy but something that I can still play with.

thanks you very much,

Adrien

The "ventilation goes crazy" meaning you get a high volume of fan noise?

Four years on a decent laptop is not a long time.
Have you used Windows Diagnostics? [MOD: spam like link removed]
Make sure that all checks out before you do anything else.
Have you had ASUS service look at it? It might just need cleaning. Fans pull in dirt , human and cat hair, ants, and everything else small enough to get into the machine.
Your fan might need replacing (but doubtful from what you say)
A good cleaning is usually the first thing you should do before anything else.
Take a look here first: https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/Asus_VivoBook_Flip_14_TP410U_Troubleshooting

If you have 8GB RAM that should be more than enough for Windows even with lots of tabs open.
The amount of RAM and your CPU should not be the cause of overheating unless they are faulty.
If they were you would be having other problems.
14" laptops are very popular and they do not necessarily run cooler or hotter than a comparable 15.6"

Before buying a new computer, make Google your best friend and search for laptop reviews that are a year or less old.
Search specifically for "fan noise" or "cooling." Some laptops get hot on your lap but do not overheat, look for that also if you use yours on your lap.
I do not know if one brand or model is better than another. I have personally used ASUS, Lenovo, Sony, and Dell.
I never had a problem with any of them overheating, my Dell is 17 years old.
(I also run Linux on all but my ASUS which is a Chromebook).

Good luck and I hope this helps
