How to Clear Your Search History on the YouTube App

If you are using your YouTube app on your smartphone, tablet, or other device, you have the option to clear your search history. If you are sharing the device or just want to protect your privacy, you can access the app and clear your history at any time by accessing the YouTube app’s settings.

Step 1: Erasing your search history will depend on the type of device you're using. For Apple devices, such as iPhones and iPads with iOS, you'll need to download the app as it no longer comes standard on the home screen. There is no option to clear search history. However, you will be able to do that if you double-tap your home button and swipe the YouTube screen up to quit the application. Upon reopening the application, your search history will be refreshed and cleared.

Step 2: On an Android device, there are a few more steps. Open the application and select the Menu button. Next, tap settings. Under settings, you will see a section titled “Search”. Tap the “Search” section and then tap on “Clear search history”. This will clear previous searches from showing up in the search box.

Step 3: On some devices, such as Androids, there is an option to disable a search history. Under the Menu, select Settings. Under settings, look for and select the “Search” category. The second option has a box next to it that you can check so that the YouTube app will “Never remember history”. Upon checking this box, you can be assured that your device will not store your previous searches.

Recap: Whether you have an iOS or Android system, you will be able to clear your search history on YouTube. Many apps feature this function so that you can guard your privacy while watching tons of videos.
