how to connect direct tv genie to in focus projector

I have connected the genie direct tv box to the Samsung tv via the hdmi cable. Then I connected the tv to the in focus projector via the composite jack. The projector is not recognizing the input. any ideas

You TV is unlikely to have a composite video output. You are probably connecting to a composite video input. The Genie should have a composite video out that you can use.
