how to connect tab to tv

I have a LG g pad 7.0 and I'm trying to connect it with my sharp tv it has a usb slot on the tv but I'm not sue if that works

Connect for what? To mirror your tablet screen on your TV, no USB won't work. The tablet has to support HDMI output or you would need a third party device.

Access music and movies off the tablet to play on a smart TV, then yes, USB should work but only if it's a smart TV.
