How to connect tv receiver to laptop

how can i connect an hp laptop to a directtv reciever to watch tv on it?

Are you saying you want to watch the output of the directtv receiver on your laptop?

If so, I'm thinking the answer is ... you can't. Typically laptops do not support hdmi in (I'm told there are a few that do but I've never seen one) - they only output. Very annoying but sadly true.
