It is possible to add more memory and to store some of your favorite apps outside the given internal memory. There are differences between the first and second generation of Amazon Fire TV Devices, let´s take a look at them.
First Generation Amazon TV
Step 1
Plug your USB Device
Amazon Fire TV first generation has got a dedicated USB port. Bear in mind that in the first generation, it is a 2.0 USB port and will only read FAT32 drives.
Step 2
Run a Supported Third-Party App to Play the Content
Once the device (up to 128GB) with the content is plugged into your Amazon Fire TV, run a supported third-party app to show the content on the screen. The one that works for all formats is VLC. All your content shall appear on the 'Video' or 'Audio' options.
Second Generation Amazon TV
Step 1
Plug your ‘USB’ Device
Amazon Fire TV second generation supports the known USB devices (2.0 and 3.0) and also adds a ‘MicroSD Card’ slot. Both of them need to be 128GB or less.
Step 2
‘Power On’ your Fire TV.
Step 3
Go to the ‘Apps’ option on your home screen.
Step 4
Find a player one like ‘Kodi’.
Step 5
Install it on your Fire TV.
Step 6
Once installed, lick on ‘Launch Application’ launch it on your Fire TV.
Step 7
You will find your stored media under ‘Pictures’ and ‘Video’.
