How to get 5.1 surround sound from PC HDMI to TV?

First my TV is connected to lg ht 806 5.1 surround system by Aux optical

With a PS3 connected to TV through HDMI I can choose 5.1 surround and it just work

With a PC I can't choose 5.1 in speaker setup
It would only show stereo or mono

My graphic card is RX 480
And my mainboard is MSI 970 Gaming

Normally you would connect to your Audio/Video Amp then have that go to the TV.

It may be your LG HT-806 Code Free Home Theater System lacks the necessary inputs.

It is not to clear what inputs the unit has for your PC.

I did a lot of research on this and the only way to get 5.1 out of your PC is by using the S/PDIF output on your motherboard. The RX 480 does not support 5.1 output although it supports 5.1 native, and your motherboard will not put 5.1 out through the HDMI cable.

Guess I have to switch my optical cable everytime I want to use it with my PC
