Get rid of malware on external Hardrive.

Hello, I have an external Toshiba Canvio USB hardrive, that I think got infected with a Virus.

Any time I plug the device on a Windos PC it shows a Blue Screen, (Winodws 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 tested).

But it does not shut down a Linux OS even if it is on the same hardware.

I do not see any hidden file on Linux, so I don't know how to get rid of the problem.

Can you provide me some suggestion to identify the culprit whitout having to copy my entire Hard Drive, or format it and lose everything?

It is not likely the issue is a virus, more likely the issue is with drivers for USB causing a crash. Did you test the drive on more than one computer or same computer with different operating systems? Did you try another cable? Checking for a virus is easy, either run the virus scan in Linux (there are programs for that OS), or see if you can use the drive while booting off an anti-virus rescue disk. I have used the Avira one, just make the disk from their web site, boot the system off it and have it run a scan.
