How to hook up a old school stereo without hdmi or coaxial ports

I just bought a blu ray player and my stereo acts as my surround sound. The stereo is almost like new but it doesn't have HDMI or coaxial ports. How do I hook up my stereo to the blu ray without those ports?

If the Bluray has two audio out ports, typically RED and WHITE, use those.

Otherwise you hope the TV down converts the HDMI audio portion for you and makes it available in its (TV) analog audio ports, then you can hook up your stereo there.

You can use an HDMI switch with audio extractor to create an audio output for your audio system.
