How to hook up emerson 3osd vcr to direct tv genie mini box

I want to be able to record programs from my direct tv genie mini box to my vcr while also watching it on my tv?

You would have to use an 1 x 2 HDMI distribution amp.

The genie HDMI out to its input. One output to the TV. The other to an HDMI to composite video audio converter.

You can program the VCR start and stop time but not change the channel of the box. Since the VCR will not record in HD you won't be pleased with the quality.
